The Granville Economic Development Commission aids businesses in locating in Oxford. Individual incentive programs are tailor-made for each firm. Oxford townspeople hold a reputation for strong work ethics and conscientious behavior. Five miles north of Oxford is the Vance Granville Community College, which works with local industries to give residents free training to suit companies' individual needs. Numerous volleyball and tennis courts are here, and a field each for soccer, baseball and football. The Granville County public school system consistently receives commendations for providing some of the best rural education in North Carolina. The Oxford Parks and Recreation Department holds numerous special events that the whole family can enjoy. Oxford's population of 8,338, (Census 2000 data), shows great pride in their town, as seen by the amount of civic organizations found here, and the scrupulous upkeep of their homes.
